Welcome to the Puppy Behavior and Enrichment Program at Good Shepherds Academy. Whether you're planning on getting a puppy or already have one, we are here to provide the best possible start for you and your dogs life journey.
Good Shepherds Academy, in partnership with the Dog Psychology Center and the Cesar Millan Foundation, is situated on 45 acres of pristine nature property in Santa Clarita, California. Our unique program combines the tranquil environment of Mr. Millan's ranch with experienced dog behaviorists and balanced adult dogs, creating an immersive and enriching experience for your puppy.
At our academy, we believe in prevention before intervention. With years of experience in helping people overcome unwanted behavior problems in adult dogs, we have tailored this program to set up puppies for a successful life right from the start. By providing a solid foundation in dog psychology, we empower you to maintain your puppy's behavior once they come home after completing our program.
During their stay with us, your puppy will receive individualized attention from our skilled dog behaviorists, engaging in interactive training sessions and socialization exercises. Our balanced adult dogs serve as invaluable mentors, teaching your puppy vital social skills and proper behavior.
Upon completing the program, you will not only witness a transformation in your puppy's behavior but also gain lifetime support from our dedicated team. Additionally, your puppy will be eligible for our exclusive Day Camp Adventure Boarding Program, offering continued enrichment and socialization opportunities.

Puppy Behavior & Enrichment Program
Inspired by the Mutt-i-grees Curriculum created by Yale University, four time Emmy nominated Children's television show, Mutt'nStuff, where Calvin Millan educates preschoolers on how to train and guide their dogs, as well as showcase the friendship and loyalty that puppies can provide.
WHAT YOU & YOUR PUPPY WILL LEARN

4 week program
-leash walking
( proper walking at your side on a loose leash)
-Crate training
( ability to relax and be well behaved in a crate or kennel)
-Potty training
( learning to go to the bathroom outdoors )
-Place/ bed command
( stay on a dog bed or mat command)
-Puppy nipping/ teething
( puppy learns what it can chew or not)
-Obedience and good manners
( basic Commands ( sit, down, come, wait)
-Socializing with balanced dogs
( Socializing done right and safe. The best teacher to a puppy is an adult balance dog. Adult dogs help role model good behavior to a puppy. Your puppy will spend its entire time with balanced adult dogs)
Positive interactions and exposure with people and other species of animals
(Our behaviorist are experienced in dog psychology. Understanding dog pshycology allows our trainers to create positive interactions with people and other species of animals)
Weekly training sessions ( 1 week )
(It’s important to include the owner in the process so that we can train you on exactly what you need to do with your puppy to set it up for success and to answer any question you might have)
Go home session
(Before going home we will do a full review of everything that was taught in the program. Work hand on and clarify questions you might have preparing you to go home)
Follow up session 2 weeks after program
(Follow up sessions to see how things are going at home and to answer any questions or concerns you might have)
